Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re wondering what to expect at your first visit, what to wear when you come for physiotherapy treatment, or what kind of referrals you may need, we have the answers. Browse our FAQs below for answers to some of the most common physiotherapy questions, or contact us if you have any additional questions.

  • Your physiotherapist will gather a history of your injury and pain, conduct a physical exam and identify any key physical problems you may have. The therapist will then explain your diagnosis (only if you are a human, your animal will need to get a diagnosis from your Vet), discuss your goals and develop a treatment plan to help you achieve your goals.

New patients will be asked to complete paperwork before the physiotherapy assessment can begin. The paperwork will be provided at the clinic. Please remember to bring the completed paperwork to your assessment or complete the online forms.

  • Please bring your Health Care Card to your appointment. Also, please wear or bring comfortable clothing such as shorts (ideal for back or leg injuries), a tank top (ideal for neck or arm injuries) as well as comfortable, indoor footwear.

  • No, Physiotherapists are primary practitioners and do not require a doctor’s referral. If you are coming for a Worker’s Compensation Injury or Motor Vehicle Accident, you will need a doctor’s referral for insurance purposes.

  • There are a handful of possible avenues to consider for coverage due to the variety of reasons why an individual would seek physiotherapy. This includes injuries related to motor vehicle accidents, workplace injuries, post-surgery recovery, or conditions related to women’s and men’s health.

  • An initial consultation is 45 minutes for humans, and 1 hour for animals. Subsequent appointments are 30 minutes (extended options available for more than one area needing treatment).

  • Your physiotherapist will conduct the initial assessment and then formulate a treatment plan. Your physiotherapist will always perform the follow ups; technical manual therapy, and/or needling therapy when appropriate.

  • If availability allows, we will most definitely accept same day assessments. You can try calling us directly or book online. We highly recommended to book your appointments ahead of time. Our evening times, especially, tend to fill up quickly.

  • As much as we would love to make life easier to come to you (for animals in particular) due to our Physiotherapists time limitations, we do not offer travel for appointments.
