Equine Physiotherapy

Identifying and treating the source of pain to improve performance and wellbeing for your horse.

Your horse is not quite themself.

Like most riders, you’ve probably tried to figure out what’s wrong with your horse by…

  • changing the bit;

  • visiting a chiropractor or massage therapist;

  • trying different training techniques and riding surfaces.

You’ve had the vet out, done a lame assessment, had their saddle refitted. But still no improvement!

If your horse is resisting you something else is going on, and most of the time it has to do with pain.

That’s where we come in!

With over 15 year experience we’ve developed the fine skills and knowledge required to accurately assess and identify where the problem began so we can stop it at the source rather than just manage symptoms.

We don’t want you to waste money and time on a new saddle or hours of massage therapy that won’t give you the result you want.

The saddle, horse and rider are all connected.

When we access and treat your horse we consider the whole picture.

We design a specialised management plan around your goals.

01

Provide exercises, treatment & behavioural changes.

02

Consider how your riding is impacting your horse.

03

Assess the fit of your saddle.

04

Signs your horse could benefit from physiotherapy.

  • They feel different on one rein than on the other e.g. more stiff on one rein.

  • The first 20 minutes of the ride is awful. Your horse is stiff, it’s head’s in the air, it’s not moving forward.

  • They keep knocking rails and you don’t know why.

  • Head tossing under saddle or excessive chewing the bit while riding.

  • Flicking their tail and pig rooting,

  • Uneasiness, particularly around the saddle,

  • Twitching or ears going back while grooming,

  • Uneven wear on the saddle itself - rub marks from seat bones.

REVIEW

“Maddie has helped rehab my injury prone mare for more than a year. She is amazing.”

“Maddie found the problem, started the intensive beach walking program then checked in with us weekly while we got into the swing of the intensive program. Jakki made great progress and her recovery was almost complete when she broke a bone in her foot.”

“Maddie has worked effortlessly with my farrier and vet. She has an empathetic approach, but is also very realistic. Jakki is a few weeks from being recovered and Maddie has started her rehab. Incorporating everything from walking to stretches and using tools like the equicore to give Jakki the best possible chance.

“Her knowledge is incredible. She’s approachable and professional giving reports and programs to help with the process. I would have given up long ago if it weren’t for her. Thank you Maddie.”

“Maddie has been amazing in assessing my horse Cobby. She has helped him to use his body to the best of its ability.”

“I now see Maddie for my stiff body, and doing the exercises from her Physio app.”

“Maddie now includes a ridden section when Cobby has his appointment to see how Cobby and I both move together, it gives her an understanding of what is needed in our sessions and brings awareness to me with what’s happening under saddle.”

“I highly recommend Maddie for both horse and humans; she listens and really explains what is going on and puts in a plan forward for both. Cobby and I appreciate all that she does for us.”
