CANINE physiotherapy
Treatment for your dog’s pain and restlessness after injury and in their later years.
Your dog is a champion at hiding their pain.
Instead of showing pain as you might expect, it could be presented as…
Anxious behaviour
Repetitive behaviours i.e. shadow chasing, ball obsession
Heightened aggression
Excessive Panting
Restlessness
Obsessive behaviors
Licking and chewing of paws
Crying, excessive verbalizing
Food aggression
It is common that dogs who exhibit anxious behavior are also in pain, which will almost always exacerbate their “unwanted” behavior.
That’s where physiotherapy can help to properly treat your best friend so they can get back to being their happy, joyful self.
WHAT PHYSIOTHERAPY CAN DO FOR YOUR DOG
For elderly dogs, this might look like a better quality of life.
Less getting up and constantly moving
Less restlessness
Fewer wakes during the night
For other dogs, treatment might mean...
Less licking and chewing of the limbs/wrists,
Less barking and whimpering,
Less anxiety and getting “worked up” when doing fun activities like going for a walk.
What We Treat
Some of the conditions physiotherapy can be effective in treating:
Sporting agility advice i.e fitness and exercise programs
Intervertebral disc disease
Strengthening exercises for older dogs to help keep them mobile
Post surgery
Neuralgia
Cancer
Sporting injury i.e. hamstring tears, cruciates, shoulder pain
Osteoarthritis (OA)
Hip dysplasia
Elbow dysplasia
Wobblers or any vertigo issues
ZOOMIES whenever you say " let's go for a walk!”
That can be an anxious behavior because it’s something that they like but it’s also something that they associate with pain in their limbs. Their behavior is saying “I really want to do this but I’m also anxious because I have no control over the situation”.
